Situated on the edge of a cliff which overlooks the sea, in a privileged position, this villa which dates back to the beginning of the 20th century has been meticulously restored down to the smallest detail. The house, which faces the sea and with an unlevelled structure, has direct access to the Cantabrian Sea.
The reformation has been carried out throughout all the house, both on the exterior and the interior, and the end result is a building which stands out for its comfort and the tranquillity which one can feel on its several terraces and balconies.
Located in a picturesque fishing village in Guipuzcoa between Donostia and Bilbao. This “Finca” comprises 3 houses (a main one and 2 secondary) over a huge plot of +8.000sqm that ends in the beach.
The restoration of the old furniture of the building has been combined with new designs in which modern is mixed with classical styles.
In the interior, the original walls of the building, which had been covered, were revealed -highlighting the original beauty of the stone, which is local. A Stonemason’s job with material which is recognised for coming from a place which is famous throughout the world for the flysch of its quarries.
The house has several spots which are refuges and have spectacular views. One of these, beside the main building, is a beautiful crafted porch supported by concrete totems which are turned into pillars.
The furniture consists of uniquely designed wooden pieces and coverings.
As we are dealing with a unique place halfway between San Sebastian and Bilbao, Alkolea is full of nooks and crannies. When the restoration was taking place, the plot was reorganised, facilitating the use of small spaces, stairs and passageways which allow the Villa direct access to the sea. On one of the vertices of the land, almost touching the sea, a wooden balcony was discovered which has been restored along with an old pathway which was found in disrepair.
