Pikk 36 is located in the highly prized historical location of Tallinn’s Old Town. The near vicinity includes numerous cafes, restaurants, galleries, museums, churches and shops. The lower stone walls of the building are from the 16th century, while the history of the upper storeys dates to late as the 20th century. It has seen use as a powder paint factory, printing plant, a Word War II-era hospital, bookstore and, most recently, the headquarters of Estonian Railway. 2011 renovation project designed by architects Martin Aunin and Marti Kahu will result in a complete remodelling.
